The University of Virginia Physicians Group (UPG) is a multi-specialty practice of over 1,000 UVA physicians and allied health professionals. The organization was founded in 1979 as an affiliated foundation to the University, in order to support its Health System partners.
UPG provides clinical management as well as administrative, marketing and financial services which are of vital importance to providers’ quality of practice, thereby supporting their mission to provide outstanding healthcare and excellent patient experience.
UPG employs billing and collections staff, medical office assistants, allied health professionals (including physician assistants and certain types of nurses) and other professionals who support UVA physicians in treating patients. In addition to the 1,000 clinicians who constitute the practice plan, we employ approximately 800 administrative employees.
